In reply to your e-mail inquiry of 12 January 2008 concerning Fred Arsenault, I wish to advise you that a search of his Second World War personnel file (RG 24, Volume 25347, service number G11748) confirms that he was killed in action on 6 January 1944.  He was first listed as “missing in action”.  His death was recorded on 23 February 1944.  Proceedings for the purpose of dealing with his affairs were held on 24 February 1944.  He was buried on 27 March 1944.  A field document signed on 4 April 1944 gives his date of death as 6 January 1944.
